Thank you to all who attended this year’s Campland on the Bay Day! We had a blast celebrating 54 years of family-friendly fun. The annual event, postponed the past two years to COVID, was back and better than ever this year. Over 2500 campers, Friends of Campland members, and Campland fans came together in Central Park to celebrate their favorite RV Resort and show their support for waterfront camping on Mission Bay.
Highlights included great music, awesome raffle prizes, Campland Cares donation ceremonies, delicious food, and the return of the Howling Contest!
At the event, Campland’s fundraising program, Campland Cares, presented $30,000 in donations to organizations that help promote coastal access, animal welfare, recreational opportunities and food security for underserved communities, and nonprofits that aim to protect natural resources. Organizations included:
Mid-City CAN
is a community-based organization located in City Heights that focuses on police accountability, improving transportation, advocating for juvenile justice, and building community power.
Young & Prosperous
works to provide resources to youths, promote social justice, equality, personal growth and educational development to underserved communities in San Diego.
Ocean Discovery Institute
inspires the next generation of science leaders, Ocean Discovery Institute creates learning experiences for young people traditionally excluded from science due to race, income status, and educational opportunity.
Project New Village
works to improve fresh food access in Southeastern San Diego is part of a broad-based movement to build social equity, giving way to healthy neighborhoods.
“Through our program Campland Cares, we have the privilege of supporting incredible organizations like those we’re honoring today. These are organizations that are supporting our local youth, improving food security, and helping to make our coastline more accessible for all communities in San Diego, as well as organizations working to protect our natural resources and animals.”
-Jacob Gelfand, COO of Campland
