BE A CAMPLAND SUPER FAN!

Here’s the information for the essay including contest rules:

1. Write a 700 – 750-word essay to shed some light for locals who have never been camping before.  Let them know why Campland on the Bay would be a good choice for camping in San Diego. One essay per entry
2. All submissions will be exclusive to The San Diego Union-Tribune and Campland on the Bay. The winning essay will be exclusive to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
3. Author must be local or have direct local ties to San Diego.
4. Please include a one-sentence bio at the end with your title, affiliation and San Diego city neighborhood or other city where you live.
5. Please include hyperlinks that substantiate claims, figures, findings, dates, referenced articles or studies, etc, that we will need to fact-check. Put hyperlinks directly on relevant words, not as footnotes or in parentheses.
6. Please do not use acronyms without spelling them out unless their full names are extremely well-known. (Ex: FBI is fine on first reference. Not CDC.)
7. If you include a photo to accompany your submission, you must be sure we have legal permission to publish the photo. Include a caption (with details like who is in the photo and where it was taken) and let us know who gets photo credit. Horizontal high-resolution photos only, please.
8. Please include a suggested headline but also be aware we or the San Diego Union-Tribune may change it to make it more engaging and more likely to surface in Google searches.
9. We encourage you to share your story on social media and tag the newspaper, @sdutopinion and @camplandusa. If you’d like to be tagged in social posts about your story, please send us your public handle(s).
10. If the San Diego Union-Tribune publishes your commentary, they will need you to be available to approve any edits in a timely manner as they will be under deadline so please also provide your cell phone number on the entry form.
11. Entries must be received by Thursday, April 20 and sent to friendlythewolf@campland.com or delivered to the Campland Administration office at 2211 Pacific Beach Drive, San Diego, CA 92109, attention Shelby.
12. All entry emails should have the subject line “Essay Contest”.
13. All entries shall become the property of Campland on the Bay. The winning essay will be exclusive to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
14. Contest winner will be notified via email.
15. Please note, by submitting an essay you agree to Campland on the Bay’s Social Media Agreement and your words may be used on our website, social media, and other marketing materials. 
16. By entering the Contest, contestants agree: (a) to be bound by these Contest Rules and the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all respects; and (b) that Campland on the Bay may post, use, reuse, publish and re-publish in whole or in part, the submitted designs.
17. All rights granted and obligations incurred as a result of entering and participating in the Contest shall survive the expiration or termination of the Contest.
18. THE CONTESTANTS HEREBY AGREE THAT CAMPLAND ON THE BAY’S MAXIMUM LIABILITY RESULTING FROM THE CONTEST IS LIMITED TO THE AWARD OF THE PRIZE AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.
