Forget the hassle of off-site excursions. Our bayfront location allows you to simply stroll from your accommodation to a promising spot along the jetty, perfect for fishing. Whether you’re an early riser hoping for a bite as the day begins, or prefer the calm waters of the late afternoon, you’ll find plenty of places along the jetty to cast your line and enjoy the tranquility of the bay. 

What Treasures the Bay Holds: 

Mission Bay is teeming with diverse marine life, and you might be delighted by what you reel in! While you might not land a deep-sea monster, our guests often enjoy catching: 

• Yellowfin Croaker: A common catch that offers consistent action. 

• Corvina – Always cruising this side of the bay 

• White Seabass – Rare around these parts but have been caught right Infront of our beach. 

• Local Bass: Keep an eye out for spotted bay bass (most common here), sand bass and Calico bass cruising the shallows. 

• The Occasional Flatfish: With a little patience, you might even hook into a halibut! 

Campland’s Tips for a Successful Catch: 

• Know the Rules: Remember that a valid California fishing license is required for anglers 16 and older. Be sure to familiarize yourself with any specific regulations for fishing in Mission Bay. 

• Keep it Simple, Angler: Basic spinning gear and a selection of live or frozen bait like worms or shrimp are often all you need for a fun day of fishing. Artificial lures can also be effective. Our onsite Market sells frozen bait and a small selection of lures.  

• Timing is Everything: Just like the best time to hit our pools is midday, the best fishing often occurs in the cooler parts of the day – early mornings and late afternoons. 

• Respect Our Bay: We’re proud of our beautiful location. Please practice responsible fishing by releasing what you don’t intend to keep (when appropriate) and always disposing of trash properly. Let’s keep our shoreline pristine for everyone! 

• Safety First, always: Keep a close eye on children near the water and be mindful of any boat traffic in the bay.
